Alien Thierry Mugler for women - Review

I'd been umming and arring over buying the Thierry Mugler Alien perfume for quite sometime now. I finally took the plunge a few months back and bought it.

Here's what I thought...

SCENT:

This perfume is definitely interesting to say the least. Its very 'out of this world' as the name suggest (Alien). It's very bold, very heavy and very sultry. Perfect as an evening scent. It's absolutely nothing like the perfumes I generally gravitate towards, which are often earthy, floral with a masculine twist.

I believe the unique factor that sets this perfume apart from others is the difficulty most have in describing it. This somehow allows it to commands a level of mystery with its oriental notes. So after a quick read up online I discovered that the top notes of this perfume are white floral jasmine. As a side note, the jasmine in this perfume is amped up very high so you'd only need one spray (two tops) otherwise you'll end up with a perfume induced headache. The middle notes are woody cashmere, which to some extent can be translated into 'masculine'. Finally the base notes are of white amber. This is what rounds the scent off, lends it sweetness and for me makes it perfect.

BOTTLE:

This is another unique aspect of the perfume. The bottle is very unique and sort of reminiscent of an exotic jewel or a philosophers stone. It's geometrically cut glass bottle, in deep purple with gold accents would definitely hold a striking spot on any dresser.

The bottle comes in the option of refillable (points for being environmentally friendly) and non-refillable. In sizes 15ml, 30ml, 60ml, 90ml. The bottle I purchased, and is pictured above is the 15ml refillable.

LONGEVITY:

This perfume is incredibly long lasting. It's estimated to last around 8-10 hours. So, well into the night.

Alien by Thierry Mugler is available nationwide. Prices start at £26.50
