A/W13 Burgundy Eyeshadow Trend

MAC Cranberry £12.50 | MAC Sketch £12.50 |Maybelline Color Tattoo Metallic Pomegranate £4.99 | Sisley Phyto-Ombre Eclat eyeshadow in Burgundy £28.00

I mentioned very quickly in my previous post that burgundy eyeshadow was making a comeback this season. The catwalks were alive with models supporting this look. However for the average Joe or Jane (see what I did there) this look can be quite difficult to pull off.

Below I've come up with a list of a few eyeshadows in the burgundy/berry family for anybody willing to dabble in this trend or who is lucky enough to suit and completely rock this look. Green/hazel eyed people, I'm talking to you.

First up, when opting for colour the best finds would naturally be with MAC. Here I’ve selected Cranberry, an extremely vibrant shade with excellent colour payoff. This is a frost finish shade that became popular early on in the year due to the Pixwoo sisters using it in one of their YouTuber tutorials. Sketch of the other hand, is more of a dense wine colour with a velvet finish that would look great in the crease or in the outer V for a smokey smoldering look.

Next, and with a budget friendly shade we have the Maybelline Color Tattoo Metallic in Pomegranate. This as the name suggests has a more metallic finish. It can go on quite sheer, as just a wash of colour or packed on and built up to achieve a more opaque payoff.  Great for somebody wanting to test the waters with coloured eyeshadow but not wanting to part with a mini fortune.

If money is no object, and want to make the investment... Hello, nice to meet you. Can we be friends? I suggest Sisley Phyto-Ombre Eclat eyeshadow in Burgundy which retails for a whopping £28.00. The finish of this shade is quite matt, well pigmented and has little to no fallout with 8-10 hrs wear time. This is definitely a luxury eyeshadow not just a fancy label. This is evident in its property list which boasts natural botanical extracts with the most sophisticated make-up technologies as well as specifically-coated powders to create a silky, ultra fine quality texture that glides over eyelids and blends easily. Also the Phyto-Ombres Eclat help protect the delicate skin in the eye area and prevent it from dry out.

Sound off in the comments if burgundy eyeshadow is going to be a look you’ll support this fall, and let me know which one you’ll go with.

    1. you and me both my friend. I wish I suited them too. I love them berry tones. I was thinking that I might use them as crease colours instead of full on lid shades so it wont look to harsh. Just a thought, hmmm :)

    1. I think its all about finding the right tone of burgundy. My eyes too look really tired with any red tones eyeshadow but I REALLY love this trend so I might mix it up a bit and use them as accent shadows just to ease myself into this look and see is I can pull this look off. LOL
